You may be aware that Gmail enables us to link our accounts with other email addresses. You can reset the password for your primary Gmail account using the recovery email ID if you’d want to. You can recover your Gmail account by following these steps:
- Go to the Gmail account recovery page: https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery
- Enter your email address or phone number associated with your Gmail account and click “Next.”
- If you have a recovery email address or phone number associated with your account, you will receive a verification code. Enter the code and follow the prompts to reset your password.
- If you don’t have access to your recovery email address or phone number, click on “Verify your identity” and follow the prompts to provide more information about your account and prove your identity.
Follow these simple instructions to recover your Gmail account if you’ve forgotten your password
If you are aware of your Google Mail address:
- Visit this page.
- Type your Gmail email address here.
- Choose “Next.”
- You will be prompted to enter the most recent password for your Gmail account on the next screen. This option will enable you to log into your account using the password you originally set for it if someone has compromised your account and changed your password.
- Choose “Next.”
- Using a Previous Password: You will be successfully redirected to your account if the password was entered correctly. You might now want to change your Gmail password. Choose “Change password” from the “Continue” menu, then follow the on-screen directions.
- Choose “Try another way” at the bottom of the screen in step four if you are unable to recall any of your Gmail account passwords.
- Using a Secondary Email: The following screen will offer to send a verification code to a secondary email you have registered for your Gmail account. When you choose “Send,” you will be asked to enter the verification code you just received.
- Note: This option will not appear if you didn’t register a secondary email for your Gmail account.
- If you don’t know the answer you can select ‘Try Another Way.’
- Using a Phone Number: If nothing of the aforementioned choices appeals to you, click “Try another way” at the bottom of the screen. You will be taken to a screen where you must input the phone number connected to your Gmail account. This is to formally certify that you are the account’s legitimate owner. After entering your phone number, click “Next.” There will be standard text message fees.
- If you didn’t register a phone number with your Gmail account, this option won’t be available.
- You can choose “Try Another Way” if you’re unsure of the solution.
- You will then be asked to respond to a security question that you registered with the account. Write your response and then click “Next.”

- Account Information: Finally, you will be prompted to input the month and year that the Google account was created. Enter the data and then choose “Next.” The account will then have been restored.
- A popup will appear stating that Google needs time to manually consider your request if you have tried all the options and are still unable to provide them with the information they require. You will be prompted for a second email address so that Google can get in touch with you when they have a response. Fill out the email form.
You might wish to change your password to something easier for you to remember after you’ve recovered your account. In order to make account recovery simple in the future, you should also (if you haven’t previously) add a backup email and phone number to your Gmail account.
